Remembering Spud

We picked up Spud from Down Home Dachshunds in Mississippi when he was just 5 months old. He was a piebald and we were really wanting a red Dachshund but we fell in love with him. He was handsome and sweet. He was our 3rd Spud and he did the name proud!! In summer, 2024, he had a laser disc ablation and with this procedure it was discovered that his liver enzymes were not good. He was referred to a specialist and after tests and a biopsy he was diagnosed with liver cancer. He had chemotherapy and did well through the whole process. He never appeared to be sick. He started showing signs of decline, not eating, sleeping a lot. After more tests, it was determined that he needed another round of chemo. He became so very sick and we realized it was time to let him go. We just couldn’t continue trying to make him well when it wasn’t going to happen. It was so hard to do but we cuddled and kissed him until he took his last breath. We are so heartbroken. Spud gave us 11 wonderful years and we adored him. Fly high my precious baby.
