Loved By Frank and Lee Pinkerton

Remembering Duke

My wife and I had just moved into a new home about 1 month after our yellow lab passed way. We visited the local animal rescue and met, “Duke”. He had been in a shelter for 6 months or more. He was full of energy and love. He was curious about everything, loved to go on walks, play Frisbee and go for long rides. He was very good natured, loved to go to Doggie Daycare and was very good playing with other dogs, big or small. About 6 months after Lee passed away from cancer, I noticed Duke was having trouble. After a few months of working with the local vet. I took him to an oncologist. That is when I found out he had Lymphoma. After 9 or 10 months of treatment, it went into remission. Unfortunately, it returned a little over 2 months later. We continued to treat him for another month and a half but the time came when all I could do was say, “goodbye”. He was a great campaign and he will be deeply missed.
