For the last 20 months or so beginning in January of 2018,  my sister’s dog Ellie was taken religiously once a month or more to Veterinary Specialty Care in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, for chemo treatments to battle lymphoma.  At her first visit, they told us her life expectancy was 6-18 months.  Boy, did Ellie defy the odds living for more than 20 months.  She was always such a trooper and battled with all the willpower and strength she had.

On the morning of September 11, 2019, Ellie lost her fight, but her spirit will always be with us.  We will remember her smile, how one ear always perked up, how she jumped on the couch and beds when she wasn’t supposed to, how much she liked being petted but could scare even the biggest Fedex man, and especially how this pound puppy stole everybody’s hearts.  I for one will miss how she always had her head under my walker when she was near me.  She even visited each of our bedrooms the night before she died to spend a little time with us.  Our entire family sure loved her and will miss her!  Just not quite the same without her!
