Remembering Lizzie
Loved by Larry, Lorie & Kyle (The Green Family)
In 2004, we met Lizzie at an adoption event held by the West TN Border Collie Rescue group. She was a beautiful border collie mix who had been found at a local shelter. It was a perfect match. She was a wonderful addition to our family and was loved beyond words. We could not have asked for a smarter, more loyal companion.
The years passed and my son, Kyle, who was 8 years old when we adopted Lizzie, grew up, graduated from high school and started college. Lizzie was a member of our family and it seemed as though she had always been with us. We took it for granted that she would be there for more years to come even though her gray face reminded us that she had become a senior citizen.
In November, 2016, she was diagnosed with Mast Cell cancer. Although there was a tumor removed, it was later discovered that the cancer was more widespread and aggressive than originally thought. In March, 2017, she crossed the rainbow bridge. We were devastated, and still continue to grieve for the loss of such a special part of our family. While her absence has been felt every single day, there is also a sense that Lizzie is still very much present in our home…………certainly in our hearts.
Lizzie will always be with us, and we are eternally grateful that fate led us to that adoption event many years ago.
